LINE DRAWINGS
The practice of free-association sketching, fueled by the impulse to find structure and meaning
with unfettered line, ignites this evolving series of line drawings. I use the improvised sketches
as the wire skeletons for a fuller and more contemplative digital manipulation of color,
composition, and narrative. Putting sketch to paper is fluid and immediate, the digital process
prolonged and reflective.
What binds the drawings together, is a sly distortion of perspective, scale, and equilibrium,
contorted and precarious, like twisted metal on a feather. A tangle of familiar forms locked in
an altered, woven landscape.
